Fine and very rare Hardy Extrawide 9" Fortuna Big Game Reel. Six Point capstan. Tapered Ebonite handles on Monel crossbar. Andreas patent anti reverse drum with fixed check mechanism. Original Cutty Hunk line removed for photoa but now back on reel and in good condition. This reel is in lovely shape with a few superficial scratches on back plate and some minor corrosion on drum and interior side plates as seen. This corrosion is superficial, minor and not deep ( typical for saltwater reels) . Over all this reel is much better than recently seen reels. Less than 30 of these reels were made and fewer still exist. Three similar reels have sold at auction in last 5 years. One in 2002 went for 3910pounds with commission ( about $8,000) and one with an auxillary brake in 2007 for over $12,000 with comission. One in lesser condition due to auction soon and estimated between $8000 and $12000 ( also includes some big game accessories)
