This is a beautiful example of a vintage fish decoy by carver Frank Mizra of Minnesota. Mr. Mizra was born in 1898 and died in 1969. Most of his decoys were carved in the 1940's and were sold locally in stores for $1.35. Mizra had a unique style of body shaping and painting that was not copied by other carvers. This decoy is nine inches long and is in excellent shape. It was a working decoy as can be seen from where a former owner wrapped his line around the decoy, leaving an impression on the paint. I purchased this decoy around 1990 from famed New Hampshire decoy dealer Derald Radke.
