Mitchell 300 Series Half Bail 70th Anniversary Reel Bidding has ended

All knowledgeable Mitchell Collectors and Historians I've ever talked to have told me that they agree on my study of the first version 300 series called "The Mitchell" where I state it was first made in the late thirties. Since we really don't know for a fact the exact year and to be safe, 1939 is acceptable. They also know I have overwhelming factual and a LOT of circumstantial evidence to prove this.

Know that all records from the thirties to the beginning of mass production in 1945/46 has never been found. Also know that some believe and publish 1946 is when the first version was made knowing that in 1946/47 the third version was being sold! Why the history lesson? I don't know, maybe it's because I just realized nobody really cares!

I did and being a dreamer, I thought it would be nice to celebrate the 70th anniversary. In my own enthusiasm, I truly believed a very special 70th Anniversary reel should be made to celebrate. Due to self funding and after a lot of junk tries, we ended up with three that were somewhat acceptable.

Here's one of three made and paid for. This was my original Mitchell 2nd Version marked #003. Two others were made and being kept with plans for a total of 10-2nd versions and 90-3rd versions in total. Our plan was to at least get back what it costs us, it was not a money making scheme. It's also highly marked not to be EVER be confused as an original. The paint is too shiny, the gold plating is fair. The black glare on the bail wire is from the black shine.

The box is hand-crafted walnut, the final result from an "artist" in Texas. (more...)

For sale is an excellent Heddon 700 Musky minnow in Sienna Crackleback. This 3-hook sway-bellied beauty has excellent glass eyes and hardware. The paint on this big lure is absolutely stunning and has an unusual blended pink strip where the yellow and sienna come together. Also, the gill marks are bright and bold. The bellyweights are, for the most part, intact with cracking around them. The front one has some chipping as seen in the photos. I have a modest reserve on this auction to help protect my investment. This is a very nice lure that is seldom seen for sale in this condition and I am very sure that the new owner will be very pleased with this remarkable work of art. This is it. The stocks are sinking and the wife says, "Don't you have a couple really valuable reels you can sell?" And she remembers the Fin Nor No.5 I have stashed away. It is one of only 80 made -- one of 80 Fin Nor # 5s-- in the last days of the South Florida operation. Tom Rech, my old friend, had it made when he was among the last Fin Nor sales and repair shops in the world. I bought it from him along with the custom 18 weight rod that was built for the reel. It is the godzilla of fly reels, filled with #18 line. He hoped to catch a Marlin on it and so did I. But neither of us made it before the time came to offer this treasure for sale. I hate to do this. But life goes on and someone else on the planet will soon own the finest, largest, most incredible reel ever built for big game fishing. I have the custom 18 wt rod to match and will offer it to the seller for $200 or not.

HARDY THE "PALAKONA" 5wt bamboo fly fishing rod 2 pc Bidding has ended

Here for your perusal is a HARDY BAMBOO ROD!! the "PALAKONA" This baby is sweet. I had to try it out today, again. I just got a Hardy JLH Ultralite #6 with a 5wt line. I'm not a great distance caster because the streams I fish don't need it. I can land a fly where it needs to be. I layed out about 65 feet of line with my leader just as straight as it should be. WOW The cork on this rod is clean with the reel seat that's about 4" and then a cigar type handle It has a stationary seat with a locking ring that slides down over the reel foot. It POPS when taken apart. Yes POPS. All of the snake guides are in great shape as well as the stripping brass eye. The rod was built in November of 1971 according to the letters L for November and Z for 1971. The writting on the rod starts out with 7' 2" on one side and L/Z on the other. It then barber poles up... Regd Trade Mark the "Palakona" #5 . On the butt is says Made by Hardy's England Then the reel seat says HARDY'S REGD UNIVERSAL REEL HOLDER It has no writting on the ring. The reel holder has 4 screws into the cork. The cork feels a bit rough in my hands casting, but I may be spoiled by my Superfines and Zero G. The ferral is tarnished from age I guess. This rod is not refinished it is just very well preserved/taken care of. The wraps are about 6 green the 1/2" of dark blue then about 6 green again. I bought a rod tube and sack that will move with this guy. The tube has a dent in the side from being knocked over. Kids, gotta love 'em. I don't usually place a reserve on my auctions but this one I am. I feel like it is well worth my reserve. I seriously doubt you will be disappointed with this rod. BBBUUUTTT if you are I will take it back after a Three day inspection. In the SAME CONDITION as it left me. It will be insured and delievery conformation attatched. International insurance alway for me gets held for awhile in customs so I don't insure international.

it is complete and in working condition with a working click

finish has what looks like light brassing most of which woul polish out as it is made of german silver

the screws look to have never been touched

pressing the thum plate disengages the spool for casting then you must push in on the handle to engage the spool

This auction is for one Rare vintage late 1940's or early 1950's Rod and reel combination. The reel was produced by Fihe enterprises in Burbank California. The rod is a early stub caster. The reel is marked Fihe enterprises Burbank Calif pat pending. The handle of the reel is marked Telecast. The reel body is copper in color. The reel is designed with out a bail and swivels when a lever is pressed to release the line. The reel has two positions available for fish ing one is a lock position and the other is free wheel with drag adjustment. The lever for casting runs independant of the fishing positions of the reel. The reel is in working condition and is really nice. The rod is a Stub Caster. It is a two peice rod and is about 22 1/2 inch es long when assembled as pictured. The handle grip s are gray brown marbled bakelite with the Stub Caster name molded into the bakelite with raised letters. The grips are attached to the handle with two rivets. There aren't any apparent chips, cracks, or breaks in the grips or pole nut which is also bakelite. The rod will be shipped assembled as I haven't had it apart for a while and it may need to be oiled to get it apart. Use caution if you take the pole apart. If you take it apart I will not be responsible for any damage. Please use the pictures to determine condition. The rod and reel pictured are the ones you will receive. You are bidding on a rare Heddon Series 3000 Spin Dive Wooden Lure made between 1918 -1926 in what I believe is a hard to find color combination. The lure is in great overall condition as you can see in the pictures below that were shot in higher resolution to help answer some of your questions. It has not been repainted or repaired in any way, just a light cleaning was done by hand to its body. There are some very small chips / paint loss and light crazing caused by landing those record bass and rattling around in grandpas old tackle box. The lure measures approx. 5 1/8" from its metal loop tip to the end of its wooden paddle tail. The prop is signed Heddon on one side, Dowagiac on the other and Spin Diver on its diving blade. This lure is one of a group of hard to find Heddon wooden lures I will be putting up for auction in the next few days. Antique Hand made metal Eel Spear Gig from New Jersey Closing : Nov-24-08 12:43:38 PST Click HERE for details!

Up for auction is this wonderful handmade eel spearing gig.came out of a farm in New Jersey in the Delaware River Valley . I am not an expert in these kinds of implements but my understanding is that it was made in or around the later part of the the 19th century the spear head and pole measures 21 feet 6 inches,the head measures 13-1/2 inchs long and 9-1/2 inches wide.The barbs are in good condition they look like you could go out today and use it ,but don`t this is very old . I had to cut the pole in half which leaves me with two poles --- I used a fine toothed blade with the idea that I could reattach the halfs with a solid wood peg or use a metal railbolt (its like a screw on both ends) most eel gigs are just sold head only i like to see someone use it for display ,it is something to see when they are in full form.Oh yea the pole is cedar can`t emagin it being made out of oak .I will just ship the head if you would like thats why I will leave shipping up to the buyer ----. one more detail the pole has a dia.of 1-3/4 inches at the base of the head an 1/2 inch dia. at the other end.-------------------- you can see in the third picture how long this is, cut in half leaning up agents my shop

The Orvis Mighty Mite is One of The Very Finest Bamboo Fly Rods Ever Made and Very Seldom Seen Anymore! This one is a little 2/1 (2 pcs, one tip, originally they were 2/2), 5 Foot, 5 Weight (HEG) that is only 1-1/2 Ounces. Which makes it Perfect for Spring Creek Trout Fishing next year! Although I don't do much fishing anymore, according to Orvis it has surprizing power to be so small and compact. Besides, according to everyone I spoke to, its a blast to fish with. While it's original weight was graded for 5 lines back then, I'm sure it will cast a 4, and maybe even a 3 in todays versions. As I remember this little bamboo wonder came out in the mid to late '60s and it has been a beloved classic ever since. Reason being, the EPA now requires Orvis to use electric furnaces for tempering, unlike the fire harding process done back then. Here it is a RARE, SPECIAL EDITION item on E-bay for all you Ambassadeur and Cardinal collectors out there. An ABU GARCIA AMBASSADEUR 2500 CDL 60th ANNIVERSARY REEL Limited Edition, NEW, MINT IN WOODEN TEAK BOX, NEVER USED. This reels is a Special Edition to celebrate 60 years since the first NAPP OCH NYTT catalog was released in Sweden. Included also with this reel is a DVD of the NAPP OCH NYTT catalogs that was released and a ABU CDL pin. I only removed the reel from its original box to take a few pictures that I have on display in this auction and I carefully packed it back in its original box so some lucky collector can get this item MINT. Also included with this auction is the last edition of the NAPP OCH NYTT catalog with the reel pictured inside it. Other different names given this series of reels are DELUXE, CDL, C DELUXE, DE LUXE.

Only 250 were produced of these reels and this is number 244/250 this item sold out as soon as they were released, almost none escaping Sweden . These reels were NEVER released in North America or Asia and just a few were released out of Sweden. I have added the option of accepting offers but please don't make any ridiculous offer, I won't take much less than what the reel is listed at but I will give a few serious buyers a chance to make me a reasonable offer.

Wright & McGill Bamboo Granger Victory fly rod 7' 3 oz

Wright & McGill Bamboo Granger Victory fishing rod 7030 Includes two tips, sock and original tube.

I am proud to offer this wonderful Wright and McGill 7ft, 3oz Granger Victory bamboo fly rod. This rod comes with two tips, and all sections are straight and this rod is ready to go. Ferrules fit nicely and all eyelets are in original working order. This is a two piece rod with two tips, both of which fit perfectly. This is the third and final of these rods that I am offering. The rod appears to have had very little use (check the cork), but when I received it there was a split in one section of the bamboo as shown in the ninth picture. After months of research I found a shop that had the skill, experience and patience to repair this rod and make it like new. The shop is/was South Creek Limited in Colorado. They checked the rod from top to bottom and made the repair and took the weeks required to cure the repair just as when this rod was crafted in the 1940's. When I spoke to them, I could hear the reverence they had for this particular rod and the care they took made the high cost of the repair justified. If you look at my final pciture, you see the repaired section. I wanted the rod repaired in such a way that it would fish as if it were new, and the repair had to blend into the existing excellent condition rod. They said one of the tips was original and the other appeared to be a Wright and McGill replacement tip.

This rod has the rich caramel color that resulted from the unique tempering process that gives these rods both their legendary action and their beautiful, timeless appearance. This is your chance to get this much sought after rod. You decide if you take it to the river, or put in on the wall.

The cardboard tube is original does show some normal wear, but is in pretty good conditon. The label on the tube has some water stains that I tried to capture in the pictures. The canvas bag is included and looks like it was made yesterday. This rod is in great condition. You will be proud to fish with this piece of art, or you can display it and see the envy in your friends eyes.

Unique "One of a Kind" Desk Set with the famed Fin Nor Wedding Cake series reels, #1, Ser 114, #2, Ser 665, & #3 Ser 402. Custom fabricated from solid block of yacht grade Teak by master marine carpenter Will Brown of Miami and 18 coat of marine spar varnish expertly applied. Pen and pencil set from same block of teak custom made by penmaker Keith Robison of New York. Pen and pencil set accept standard cross refills. Set is accented with Brass and the center ring of each is rare South American Bloodwood. Pen and pencil set have a semi gloss laquer finish made to withstand use and beautifully accent the block. All 3 of the Fin Nor Wedding Cake reels are in exquisite condition and it's hard to tell if they have ever been used. This is the only piece of it's kind known to exist. It measures 14" wide by 7" deep. The side which would face guests is 2.5" high by 14" wide, plenty enough room to put a custom brass plate with the owner's name which can be aquired at any trophy shop. The side facing the desk has a brass plate which reads "Tycoon FIN-NOR "Wedding Cake" Fly Reel Series". More pictures available upon request.
