This Leonard fly rod reel seat is stamped "H L Leonard Rod Leonard Mills Co Maker". The rod is 6ft 8 inches, 3 piece with 2 tips. All sections are equal length. Most likely this rod was shortened from a slightly longer model. Rod has been refinished not restored. It has an all metal nickle silver reel seat and diminutive 4 1/4 inch cork grip. Butt section ferrule patent markings: "Sept. 3, 1878, Oct 28, '75". All hardware including red agate stripping guide appears original with exception of 1 tip section male ferrule which is from Bailey Woods of Classic Sporting Enterprises and a female ferrule on mid section which is a machined replacement similar to the original. This is a fast action rod with delicate tips. This is a personal rod that I've used with a 3 wt Cortland Sylk double tapered line.

Marked on the butt of the handle and at the bottom of the rod, this early 20th Century Fishing Rod is made by, “D. W. Vom Hoff & Co. Makers N.Y.” This is a number 4 rod and the serial number is, “101B.” The handle measures 16 ½” long and the rob measures 65” not counting the 1 5/8” long taper post at the bottom. This fishing rod is in original untouched condition with its original alligator varnish surface. All the brass eyelets are in very good condition and if you could tell me why this has eyelet on both sides my daughter would sure like to know. BAMBOO FLY ROD -- 6' 3" -- 2/2 -- 4WT. -- MIDGE TAPER Closing : Jan-06-08 19:45:00 PST CLICK HERE TO BID!

Paul Young developed the Midge taper in the late 1940s along with the Perfectionist, Driggs and Martha Marie. At 6'3". the Midge handles a 4-Weight line and is perfect for small stream or tailwaters fishing. These rods weigh in at just under 2 oz., but still possess enough power to fight bigger trout. As the name implies, the rod is great for small flies on 6X or 7X tippet....This particular rod has been in my personal arsenal for about three years and has brought in some nice fish. I hate to part with it, but I have another one and can't justify both. This rod is in EXCELLENT USED CONDITION with one exception. There is a very, very slight sideways cant at the male ferrule on one of the tips. It's extremely minor, but needs mention in the interest of full disclosure. Assembeled with the other tip, the rod is perfectly straight. The node spacing is 2X2X2 and the rod is nicely flamed. It is finished out with a cork reel seat with cap and sliding ring, vintage old stock 11/64th ferrules, and an agate stripper. The metal parts are blackened for stealth when casting, and show minor wear. The rod is wrapped in translucent dark cinnamon colored silk. The ferrules fit snugly. This is a working rod and should continue to be fished! Comes with a rod bag and the aluminum tube shown. Shipping in the US and Canada only.

This auction is for a rebuilt MORTISED bamboo fly rod, 8' 6" long in 4 Weight that is ready for your favorite river. Cedar mortised rods are rare, and this one was worthy of restoration because the cane was in great shape, no splits or delaminations. Despite the large Chubb style reel seat, this is a LIGHT-LINE rod with delicate tips and full-flex in action. It works all through the butt when cast, and exhibits slow, traditional bamboo action. This rod was probably made about 1910 -20 in my opinion when rod crafting was at its peak. The rod is wrapped in translucent orange silk with brown intermediates. Because the rod was unmarked as to original maker, the rod was re-done for modern fly lines. This rod should be fished, and it will fish well with a DT4 or silk or SYLK fly line. All sections appear full-length, though one tip is, maybe, 1/8" shorter than the other, probabaly due to a replaced tip-top. The sections are very close to perfectly straight. The rod has been finished in multiple coats of spar urethane for long use. There is some very, very slight ghosting from the old wraps, but they are just barely visible on one section. The original sheet cork grip is in good condition. The rod has a vintage low-frame agate stripper. I do not have a bag or tube, but will ship, securely packaged, in a heavy guage PVC tube.

1906 Casting ROD Split BAMBOO Von LENGERKE & ANTOINE

Exceptional estate sale find, this is an original VON LENGERKE & ANTOINE Split Bamboo Casting Rod that has a May 15, 1906 patent date. Comes with two tips, the rod measures 5' long and has agate eye inserts. Wraps are VG/VG- with just a couple of loose strands and minor wear to decorative wraps. Cork handle is slightly loose but I'll leave tightening it to the new owner.

Goodwin Granger bamboo fly rod - Colorado Special 9043

9' - 4 3/4 oz. GOODWIN GRANGER COLORADO SPECIAL - GCS9043 - Yes, this is a 9043. Butt and mid ferrules measure 17 and 11/64", respectively. The 4 3/4oz blonde cane Colorado Special's, manufactured between 1926 and 1931, are beautiful and quite rare. They have a light, smooth, comparatively soft action and makes an excellent fishing model for moderate trout fly work. This particular rod is very straight, has no delaminating sections, cracks or damage to the cane. All sections are full length. The ferrules and guides are in great shape, as are the original silk wraps. Cork grip is also in fine condition having no hook digs or cuts. The nickle silver reel seat is as nice as you will find on a rod this old. There are no dents in the seat whatsoever. It looks as though a reel has never been placed on this rod. Everything is original on this rod right down to the varnish. The varnish, however, is in poor condition and will need a new coat. Rod comes with original bag in poor condition, and a very seldom seen aluminum tip tube. Rod can be shipped in a heavy PVC tube for an extra charge of $10. (more...)

C. 1950 5-1/2' Revers. Split Bamboo Bait/Fly Rod, *VF+ Bidding has ended

Up for auction an Extremely Nice CIRCA 1950 5-1/2 FT., 3-PIECE REVERSIBLE SPLIT BAMBOO BAITCASTING/FLY ROD. This model has a ferrule built into each end of the handle, allowing the rod to be converted into a fly or bait rod simply by turning the handle around. Unmarked, it was likely made in Japan soon after the end of WWII and the U.S. Occupation. Very nice quality of bamboo. Comes with the reversible handle and two rod sections. When the shorter of the sections is attached to the handle, it creates two 33" butt and tip sections. This beautiful example is in solid Very Fine+ condition, showing only faint wear to the reel seat. Bamboo is Perfect, flawless, with no splits or cracks. Sections are straight as an arrow. Varnish looks like new. All guides, tip top, red silk wraps tipped in black, flip-ring hookkeeper and ferrules are Excellent. Screw-locking reel seat works perfectly, showing a very tiny area of brassing opposite the seat. Solid cork grip looks as though it's never been handled.
