Coming from Zane Grey's home in Altadena, CA is this Ashaway Special Boatmen's Cuttyhunk, hand laid, twisted linen line box. The empty box measures 5 3/8"x 8"x 1 5/8" and once held 6/12 dozen, 50yd., 45lb wet tested line.

This item came directly from Zane Grey's home in Altadena, California, and was part of his personal fishing tackle.

The item was purchased from the Lang's sale in November of 2007 as part of the Brock-Tinglum collection of Zane Grey fishing items.

"For years it had been rumored the 1967 fire had engulfed many of these important articles, which can now be proven false by the presence of this collection. This antique 19th Century Hand Forged Iron is signed, but we are not exactly sure what it says. I believe it says, “F.S. Mint Barnstead Mass.” The spear itself measures 13 ½” tall by 10 ¾” wide. It is in very good condition, however there is a very old repair near the bottom wear it attaches to the 66” wood shaft. Eel Spears were no very rare however signed Eel Spears are, even though I am going to list this antique 19th Century Wrought Iron Eel Spear with No Reserve.

Just wonderful! The cards themselves are brand new and not antique, but the illustrated lures are.

If you're a fisherman (or -woman) or collector of fishing lures or tackle you will get a kick out of these. 52 normal suit cards plus two jokers. The set has three old lures (Michigan Life-Like Minnow, Moonlight Dreadnaught, and Charmer Minnow) as the back illustration design and the real gem is that the face of each card is a different fishing lure from the 1800s and early 1900s!

You will receive a BRAND NEW, SEALED deck. I opened mine to shoot all these photos. Take a look!

Bridge sized, 2.5 x 3.5 inches. Illustrations are by Jon Q. Wright and boy are they great.

The illustrations are very realistic. You'll recognize some of these lures from the current sporting goods store but many are very odd and no doubt short-lived. Amazing! Carved wood, some flies, spinners, swimmers, etc. They were trying ANYTHING they thought might work back then. I love the Dive Bomber which is from 1942 and has the ..._ V for victory Morse Code dots and dash on it. And check out the jokers - they are CARP - throw em back.

Thank you for looking. Up for sale is an original 1930's - 1940's Shakespeare Glass Minnow Trap #7715, with the original box. This is my personal belonging. I used it often when I was a boy on our fishing trips to Southern Missouri rivers. I would crush Saltine crackers in the trap, set it out in the mild rapids, and catch great shinners for crappie fishing; all while enjoying my lunch. The twine was of course attached to a big rock for support. I have many fond memories of this 70+ year old trap.

This trap is very rare, and to find one with the orginal box is almost impossible. Again, this has the original box. After researching on Google, I learned there are actually two types of the 7715 - one has two air holes in the top and one has none. This Shakespeare 7715 has no air holes in the top. I remember having to tip it to release the air so it would sink.

Nice Vintage Fishing Creel / 4 Fly Reels - Beautiful Bidding has ended

This is a very nice tight woven creel and it comes with four fly reels. The creel is in very good condition. The leather and straps are worn but remain unbroken, in fact, the buckled strap in the front is really the only very worn strap on the creel... all others are in strong condition. There is some breakage to the bottom of the creel (Shown) however, for the age... she is a beauty! (I just sold a creel and had it listed as pretty junky - I don't try to overstate the condition to recieve higher bids - I describe as accuratly as I can to insure we both stay happy).

Creel Maker is unknown!

The fly reels are a mixed bag of fair reels. They are as follows:

1. FJORD - Japan - very nice reel in excellent working condition.

2. Martin Fish Reel - FS No3 - Decent reel in working condition - a few minor dings.

3. Shakespeare Steelhead Trout Reel model HE (1900?) - Appears to be Okay although drag is questionable. - Decent - missing paint.

This is a very nice old Fishing Creel with everything you would need to go fishing besides the rod and reel. It includes the Creel which is approx. 14 1/2" across the bottom and 7" high. All the leather is in good shape as well as the main body of the Creel. There are no broken parts. It also includes the leather straps and an old Luhr Jenson "Egg Lug." for carrying bottles of salmon eggs and a "Fish King" worm carrier. Both are made out of aluminum. Here we have a wonderful item up for bids. It is a Beautiful Antique INDIAN MADE fishing CREEL. It is circa 1920's. It is made entirely from birch bark with plant stitching. Beautiful fish graphics. It has a nice leather shoulder strap. Made by the Attik Indian Tribe from Southern Quebec, who were nortorious for their birch bark craftsmanship. It measures 11 inches across the bottom. Perfect for display. A fine collectors item. Shipping and handling will be $14.00 to the U.S and $22.00 to Canada. Overseas will be about $30.00. For auction is a HEDDON #900 "SWIMMING MINNOW". Screw eye hook hangers. .Lure is in good condition. No serious loss of paint. Their are paint chips at the tail hook hanger, the nose line eye, and the belly weight. Otherwise paint is good. Their is a lot of varnish loss. Hooks have moderate to light rust. Hook pin is broken off. No cracks in eyes. However the left eye has a tiny chip at the center of the pupil. I tried to get a picture of it but would not show. You can see it with a magnifier. Pictures show the overall condition very well. The age is circa 1910? I am selling my entire tackle & book collection over the coming months months.
