Finding Shakespeare age
- From about 1929 to 1977, all Shakespeare reels carried a two letter dating code. The 2 letters indicate the year the reel was manufactured, eventhough the code is not part of the model number.
- The code usually is located on the reel foot or near the model number or name.
- Here is one example : Shakespeare 5052 DA. 5052 is the reel's model. D=7 and A=0, so the reel was manufactured in 1970. Not that difficult, right ?
