Up for auction is this wonderful handmade eel spearing gig.came out of a farm in New Jersey in the Delaware River Valley . I am not an expert in these kinds of implements but my understanding is that it was made in or around the later part of the the 19th century the spear head and pole measures 21 feet 6 inches,the head measures 13-1/2 inchs long and 9-1/2 inches wide.The barbs are in good condition they look like you could go out today and use it ,but don`t this is very old . I had to cut the pole in half which leaves me with two poles — I used a fine toothed blade with the idea that I could reattach the halfs with a solid wood peg or use a metal railbolt (its like a screw on both ends) most eel gigs are just sold head only i like to see someone use it for display ,it is something to see when they are in full form.Oh yea the pole is cedar can`t emagin it being made out of oak .I will just ship the head if you would like thats why I will leave shipping up to the buyer —-. one more detail the pole has a dia.of 1-3/4 inches at the base of the head an 1/2 inch dia. at the other end.——————– you can see in the third picture how long this is, cut in half leaning up agents my shop

Orvis’ Very Rare Bamboo Classic: The “Mighty Mite”

The Orvis Mighty Mite is One of The Very Finest Bamboo Fly Rods Ever Made and Very Seldom Seen Anymore! This one is a little 2/1 (2 pcs, one tip, originally they were 2/2), 5 Foot, 5 Weight (HEG) that is only 1-1/2 Ounces. Which makes it Perfect for Spring Creek Trout Fishing next year! Although I don’t do much fishing anymore, according to Orvis it has surprizing power to be so small and compact. Besides, according to everyone I spoke to, its a blast to fish with. While it’s original weight was graded for 5 lines back then, I’m sure it will cast a 4, and maybe even a 3 in todays versions. As I remember this little bamboo wonder came out in the mid to late ’60s and it has been a beloved classic ever since. As a mater of fact, Orvis now makes a Reproduction “Mighty Mite” like this little beauty that sells for $3,500. You can see for yourself at Orvis.com. But evenso, the Master Bamboo Rod Builder I spoke to at the factory tells me that they’re no longer able to build rods in this rich, dark bamboo like this one anymore. Reason being, the EPA now requires Orvis to use electric furnaces for tempering, unlike the fire harding process done back then. He added that he still has a ‘very limited supply’ of the older, darker bamboos set asided, and used only for just such classics as this one.

An ABU GARCIA AMBASSADEUR 2500 CDL 60th ANNIVERSARY REEL Limited Edition, NEW, MINT IN WOODEN TEAK BOX, NEVER USED. This reels is a Special Edition to celebrate 60 years since the first NAPP OCH NYTT catalog was released in Sweden. Included also with this reel is a DVD of the NAPP OCH NYTT catalogs that was released and a ABU CDL pin. I only removed the reel from its original box to take a few pictures that I have on display in this auction and I carefully packed it back in its original box so some lucky collector can get this item MINT. Also included with this auction is the last edition of the NAPP OCH NYTT catalog with the reel pictured inside it. Other different names given this series of reels are DELUXE, CDL, C DELUXE, DE LUXE.

Only 250 were produced of these reels and this is number 244/250 this item sold out as soon as they were released, almost none escaping Sweden . These reels were NEVER released in North America or Asia and just a few were released out of Sweden. I have added the option of accepting offers but please don’t make any ridiculous offer, I won’t take much less than what the reel is listed at but I will give a few serious buyers a chance to make me a reasonable offer.

Wright & McGill Bamboo Granger Victory fishing rod 7030 Includes two tips, sock and original tube.

I am proud to offer this wonderful Wright and McGill 7ft, 3oz Granger Victory bamboo fly rod. This rod comes with two tips, and all sections are straight and this rod is ready to go. Ferrules fit nicely and all eyelets are in original working order. This is a two piece rod with two tips, both of which fit perfectly. This is the third and final of these rods that I am offering. The rod appears to have had very little use (check the cork), but when I received it there was a split in one section of the bamboo as shown in the ninth picture. After months of research I found a shop that had the skill, experience and patience to repair this rod and make it like new. The shop is/was South Creek Limited in Colorado. They checked the rod from top to bottom and made the repair and took the weeks required to cure the repair just as when this rod was crafted in the 1940’s. When I spoke to them, I could hear the reverence they had for this particular rod and the care they took made the high cost of the repair justified. If you look at my final pciture, you see the repaired section. I wanted the rod repaired in such a way that it would fish as if it were new, and the repair had to blend into the existing excellent condition rod. They said one of the tips was original and the other appeared to be a Wright and McGill replacement tip.

This rod has the rich caramel color that resulted from the unique tempering process that gives these rods both their legendary action and their beautiful, timeless appearance. This is your chance to get this much sought after rod. You decide if you take it to the river, or put in on the wall.

The cardboard tube is original does show some normal wear, but is in pretty good conditon. The label on the tube has some water stains that I tried to capture in the pictures. The canvas bag is included and looks like it was made yesterday. This rod is in great condition. You will be proud to fish with this piece of art, or you can display it and see the envy in your friends eyes.

Unique “One of a Kind” Desk Set with the famed Fin Nor Wedding Cake series reels, #1, Ser 114, #2, Ser 665, & #3 Ser 402. Custom fabricated from solid block of yacht grade Teak by master marine carpenter Will Brown of Miami and 18 coat of marine spar varnish expertly applied. Pen and pencil set from same block of teak custom made by penmaker Keith Robison of New York. Pen and pencil set accept standard cross refills. Set is accented with Brass and the center ring of each is rare South American Bloodwood. Pen and pencil set have a semi gloss laquer finish made to withstand use and beautifully accent the block. All 3 of the Fin Nor Wedding Cake reels are in exquisite condition and it’s hard to tell if they have ever been used. This is the only piece of it’s kind known to exist. It measures 14″ wide by 7″ deep. The side which would face guests is 2.5″ high by 14″ wide, plenty enough room to put a custom brass plate with the owner’s name which can be aquired at any trophy shop. The side facing the desk has a brass plate which reads “Tycoon FIN-NOR “Wedding Cake” Fly Reel Series”. More pictures available upon request.
